      This camp is so popular we bring it back every year!


      Performers in this class have fun developing their acting and improv skills through games and fun activities. This is a great class for all experience levels and ages. This is a good class for boys and shy kids.


      Students are welcome to focus on what they are most interested in, we are flexible enough to accommodate their interests. 

      Kids wil also enjoy fun, friendship building activities, such as improvisation & acting games.



      This camp runs simultaneously with our Hamilton Song & Dance camp. Kids can sign up for one or the other. We have space to allow both activities at once.

      Miss Understood is the second musical written by our own 13-year-old performer, Paige Underwood, & her mother, Shannon. It also features music by Paige's grandfather, Will Hegarty. This show and songwriting team was responsible for our 2023 original hit musical "All Dolled Up."


      Make history and be part of this original cast!


      This talented team of playwrights is even willing to help develop a character especially for your student! Have your child take the Miss Understood survey here and give their input on a part just for them.

    • Miss Understood Characters & Casting

      Miss. Understood - Characters


      1. The McKey Family

      Kennedy – Awkward yet intuitive, she struggles through middle school while dealing with a new town and mean girls. She must make tough choices about what truly matters.


      Savvy – A former beauty queen turned realtor, obsessed with winning and fame. Though she gives her daughters questionable advice, she has moments of parenting clarity. She wants to be seen as more than just her looks. 


      Madison – A no-nonsense entrepreneur and impressive online makeup sensation. She is the ultimate girl boss.


      Regan – Dreams of competing in the Dreamsville Beauty Pageant. Often found trying on sparkly gowns and crowns, she loves playing the What Would You Do If? game with her sisters, imagining outlandish situations that drive her family crazy.



      2. The BOW Girls (The Best of the Worst Girls)


      Blake – The leader, smart, preppy, and competitive, with a serious mean streak. Nothing angers her more than people ignoring her commands. She is the reigning Dreamsville Beauty Pageant winner.


      Olive – The comic relief of the group, often slow to grasp what’s happening.


      Willow – The nicest of the BOW girls, struggling between loyalty and doing what’s right.


      3. The Parents & PTO


      Tessa – Exhausted mom of a newborn, constantly falling asleep in public. Dreams of the day she’ll finally get some rest.


      Fran – A funny and rebellious mom who constantly challenges authority.


      Dentist Dad Dan – A laid-back and humorous dad.


      Nora – Devoted to her kids but secretly dreams of taking a vacation one day.


      PTO President Christy – Naïve and overly sweet. Other moms mock her behind her back.


      Cora – A creative mom practicing "gentle parenting." She allowed her children to name themselves as a form of self-expression.


      4. Kids / Game Show Contestants / Beauty Pageant Delegates


      Daisy – Top Girl Scout cookie salesperson and CEO of Madison’s lip gloss business. She uses a British accent in business situations, calling it “a powerful sales tool.”


      Bubu – A spoiled young boy who expects adults to do exactly as he says. Prone to dramatic tantrums.


      London – Bookish and kind, a friend to Kennedy.


      Brella – Smart and thoughtful, the key to understanding what is real and true.


      Jack – Sarcastic and always looking for trouble. He frequently challenges game show host Rhondo.


      Tiny Intern – The smallest character, serving as Madison’s lip gloss business assistant.



      5. The HOA Members (Neighborhood Watchdogs & Fourth Wall Breakers)


      Haven

      Alex

      Quinn


      The nosey neighbors who know all of Dreamsville’s secrets. They frequently spy on others and enforce HOA rules to absurd levels—like measuring hedges or fining people for parking one minute past curfew. They are the only characters who break the fourth wall.



      6. The School & Community Leaders


      Principal – A fair and thoughtful leader of the school and town.


      Talent Judges – A stern and intimidating team selecting winners for the local contests.



      7. The Villains


      Rhondo – The main antagonist. A fake-nice, overly cheerful game show and beauty pageant host who can switch into a dark and terrifying persona in an instant. A master of deception.


      Vex – Snappy, cunning, and mischievous—Rhondo’s right-hand accomplice.


      Echo – A shadowy sidekick and ghostly game show announcer, lurking in the background.


      Talent Scout – A mysterious figure in dark sunglasses and a stylish outfit, ultimately leading others to their own downfall.


      8. The Telenovela Soap Opera Personalities (Dramatic, Over-the-Top Characters)


      Jaguar – A ruthless rebel with a past full of secrets. Mysterious and dangerous.


      Diego – The ultimate charismatic heartthrob who is smooth and charming.


      Kiki – A bold, stylish, and over-the-top diva who lives for the drama.She never goes anywhere without her beloved pet monkey by her side. 


      Lux – A spoiled rich girl who lives in luxury but hides her own dark secrets.



      Additional Opportunities:


      If you don’t see a character you like, put in your actor input form by March 1st, and we will write in your character or add to an existing character. The talent portion of the beauty pageant will allow for additional acting opportunities. It is our goal to have every child feel good about their character and the time they spend with us at Miss Understood: A New Musical.

      The elegant and mysterious matriarch of the Addams family, always poised and in control.

      The witty, independent, and slightly twisted daughter of Gomez and Morticia, who has fallen in love with a “normal” boy.

      Wednesday’s mischievous younger brother who enjoys being tortured by his sister but fears losing her to love.

      A major role in the show, Fester is the oddball uncle with a childlike heart and an undying love for the moon. Excellent singing required.

      The eccentric, fun-loving, and slightly kooky grandmother who may or may not be related to the family.

      Enrollment - $200


      Participants in this camp learn all aspects of technical theater. They help run and design both theatrical lighting & sound, which may include running microphones, sound system, and professional lighting equipment. They also assist backstage for a musical that is performed for the public..  


      Requirements: Students in this camp must be mature, trustworthy & self-motivated. They need to be able to handle stress and work well with adults and other students. This is a great place to learn new skills and assume responsibility.

    The Big Ten ceremony honors students who have performed ten shows at Paige Productions. This is a special time where Miss Paige and fellow performers share warm thoughts about the recipient and their character on and off stage. Performers are presented a giant "Lucky Ducky" and a book with personal notes from past and present performers.

                          Winter Break Camp Photos


                          

                          Our 2021 Winter Break Camp was a blast. We worked on cold reads, improvisation, singing harmony, matching pitch, stretching and dance skills daily. We also enjoyed the incredible views and playground whenever possible. The kids also participated in karaoke fun, a New Year's Eve party, a Secret Santa gift exchange and a fun Storytime for the community.

                          PRIVATE LESSONS


                          Young performers are strongly encouraged to participate in a group class

                          before taking private voice lessons. Contact Miss Paige for more information.

                          PRE-SCHOOL COMBO: For creative preschoolers who have a knack for music and performance. These lessons explore acting, singing and piano at each 30 minute lesson.


                          PRIVATE VOCAL TRAINING: For all ages to help improve your overall vocal tone and technique. Learn to sing using proper breathing and placement. Develop songs in all musical genres and learn to perform or emote appropriately within the style.


                          BUCKET LIST BROADWAY TRAINING: For adults who have always dreamed of singing or picking up where they left off as a performer. Improve overall tone and technique using proper breathing and placement.


                          SPEECH & DEBATE COACHING: For homeschool students interested in competing in speech and debate competitions. Can be individual or duo performers. Includes assistance with speech editing or writing.


                          PUBLIC SPEAKING COACHING: For adults or students interested in becoming more persuasive and confident in their onstage or Zoom delivery. Learn to be interesting as a speaker, grab and maintain an audience's attention. Popular with Pastors, executives and other professionals in the public eye.


                          BEGINNING PIANO: For students interested in trying piano for the first time. Also a popular add-on for vocalists who want to take piano and voice lessons at the same place, integrating an overall approach to music.

                          BIOGRAPHY


                          Paige Beckman

                          ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

                          Paige is an ariZoni Award winning director and music director. She has been involved in theater her whole life and has worked at Fountain Hills Youth Theater for the past decade. She believes in youth theater and what it can do for a child's poise, confidence and self-esteem. 

                          Paige is also a private voice coach, acting coach and piano teacher in Fountain Hills. Her students have won or placed in multiple acting competitions, vocal competitions and pageants. 


                          Paige has directed and music directed countless shows, including Cinderella Kids, Seussical Kids, Shrek Jr., Willy Wonka Kids, Frozen Kids, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Anne of Green Gables, On the Verge & Am I Blue, and music directed Fountain Hills Youth Theater productions of Frozen Jr, Pinkalicious, Jungle Book Kids and The Aristocats Kids. Paige performed as an actress for many years. Favorite roles include Marianne in The Miser, Annelle in Steel Magnolias, Emily in Our Town, Angie in Top Girls, Cleo in A Girl’s Guide to Chaos and Laurie in Brighton Beach Memoirs. She has also performed in countless musicals including, Into the Woods, Carnival, Carousel, Can-Can, The Wizard of Oz, He Lived the Good Life and many more. Paige also performed as a vocalist in the Minneapolis area before moving to Arizona. She sang on a popular radio jingle for the MN State Fair and was hired as a soloist for countless weddings.

                          Paige Productions Youth Theater is an exciting place where kids & teens can find fresh performance opportunities in the Fountain Hills & Scottsdale areas. This company works under a limited rehearsal schedule allowing students to participate in theater year-round. This format allows them to participate in other shows, school activities, studio dance programs and sports, while prepping for a theatrical production.
